PackRat comprises of a suite of applications and utilities, found at sites such as TinyApps.org and elsewhere, that you can burn to a CD and carry around with you when travelling. The apps don't need installing at all. Just pop into an Internet cafe and fire up the CD.

All the software is shareware/freeware and readily available for download. Happy backpacking.

OffByOne - A sweet little browser. Includes SLL support for secure logins.

Popcorn - Stand-alone POP3 email application with support for multiple accounts.

Moopeg - Media player for the poor and anonymous.

Irfanview - Graphics viewer/editor.

PuTTY - Terminal app.

WinZip - Compression/decompression utility. Version 5 happily installs to a CD.
